The second annual Digital Commerce Calgary Fintech Award, co-presented by Digital Commerce Bank and Platform Calgary, has announced its expansion across Canada, offering fintech entrepreneurs nationwide an opportunity to compete for the esteemed award.
Unlike the previous year, Canadian fintech startups are no longer required to be based in or plan to relocate to Calgary to participate.
Recognizing the potential surge in participation due to this expansion, the organizers have extended the application deadline to June 12, 2023, thereby providing ample time for potential applicants across the country.
The competition, building on the success of its inaugural year, will present an array of fintech startups with a chance to gain industry recognition. The award offers contestants coaching, mentorship from industry experts, and the chance to compete for three non-dilutive cash prizes totalling over $300,000.
“We are thrilled to announce the Canada-wide expansion of the Digital Commerce Calgary Fintech Award. This allows fintech entrepreneurs across the country to showcase their innovative solutions and disrupt the financial technology landscape,” says Jeffrey Smith, Co-Founder & CEO of Digital Commerce Bank.
The award competition invites 25 startups to partake in a rigorous 6-week program consisting of interactive workshops, leadership panel discussions, coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
The top five finalists will live-pitch to a panel of distinguished judges for the grand cash prize, with winners being announced during an Award Gala in October 2023 in Calgary, Alberta.
Terry Rock, CEO at Platform Calgary, highlights Calgary’s 2022 recognition as a top Fintech ecosystem in North America, adding that by opening the Digital Commerce Calgary Fintech Award to all Canadian fintech startups, they are showcasing Calgary’s potential to scaling fintech companies.
The previous year’s winners, Fillip Fleet and Woveo, benefited immensely from the award, securing a total of $310,000 in non-dilutive cash to fast-track their businesses.
Interested sponsors are encouraged to support the award, contributing to Canada’s growth as a global hub for fintech startups. More information and application details are available at CalgaryFintechAward.com.
